These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Zoroastrian Light LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"), governing your use of the Zoroastrian Light website at zoroastrianlight.com and the Zoroastrian Light application (together, the "App").
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Please read Section 13 carefully — it limits our liability — and Section 15, which affects how disputes are resolved.
Zoroastrian Light is a devotional and educational application for the Zoroastrian tradition. It offers a prayer library, a prayer player, guided sequences, lessons, and access to texts including the Gathas, Yashts and Yasna, in English, Persian/Farsi, and Young Avestan transliteration. It also includes Magi, an AI-powered chat feature.
The App is offered as a spiritual and educational resource. It is not a religious authority, and it does not speak for any Zoroastrian body, association, anjuman, or clergy. Where the tradition holds differing views — and it does, across Iranian, Parsi, and diaspora communities — the App presents one rendering among several. It is not a substitute for the guidance of a mobed, a teacher, or your own community.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.
If you are under 18, you may use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and accepts responsibility for your use. If you are under 18, do not purchase a subscription without your parent or guardian's agreement.
If you are in the EEA or UK and under the age of digital consent in your country, a parent or guardian must consent on your behalf before you create an account.
By using the App you confirm you are not barred from doing so under any applicable law.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly at zoroastrianlight@gmail.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Provide accurate information when you register, and keep it current. Do not share your account, sell access to it, or let someone else use it.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate an account under Section 11.
Some features — including premium sequences and other content marked as premium — require a paid subscription.
How billing works. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your chosen payment method the subscription fee plus any applicable taxes.
Automatic renewal — please read. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as you selected) at the then-current rate, and your payment method will be charged automatically, until you cancel. This continues indefinitely unless you cancel.
How to cancel. You may cancel at any time from Settings, or by emailing zoroastrianlight@gmail.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access to premium features until that period ends. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 24 hours before it begins.
Refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, subscription payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial periods, unused time, or periods during which you did not use the App. We may grant refunds at our discretion; doing so once does not oblige us to do so again.
Statutory withdrawal rights. If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. By subscribing and requesting immediate access to premium content, you ask us to begin performance during that period and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the content is fully delivered. Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects you, and the new price applies from your next renewal. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend premium access until payment succeeds.
Free trials. If we offer a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then. We will tell you the trial length and the price at signup.
Magi generates responses using artificial intelligence. Please understand what that means:

You keep ownership of anything you submit — chat messages, notes, bookmarks, and similar ("Your Content").
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the App to you, and to improve it in ways consistent with our Privacy Policy. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies retained in backups for the periods described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to submit it.
The App, its design, software, original text, audio recordings, lessons, sequences, translations we hold rights in, trademarks, and logos are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App and access its content for your own personal, non-commercial devotional and educational use. You may not redistribute, resell, publicly perform, or create derivative works from the content without our written permission.
A note on sacred texts. The Avestan corpus itself is ancient and in the public domain. Particular translations, transliterations, commentaries, and audio recordings may be protected by copyright held by their translators, scholars, publishers, or reciters. Where we have licensed such material, its use is subject to the licensor's terms, and your license under these Terms extends no further than ours does.
If you believe content in the App infringes your copyright, write to zoroastrianlight@gmail.com with a description of the work, where it appears in the App, your contact details, and a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized. We will investigate and remove infringing material where appropriate.
The App relies on third-party services including Google, Facebook, and Apple for sign-in, Stripe for payments, and an AI provider for Magi. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their acts, omissions, or availability.
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. If we discontinue a feature that was a material part of a paid subscription, we will give you reasonable notice and, where fair, a pro-rata refund for the remainder of your paid period.
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where practicable, if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, if your account is used fraudulently or abusively, or if we discontinue the App. If we terminate your account without cause while you hold a paid subscription, we will refund the unused portion.
Sections 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 survive termination.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that defects will be corrected; or that the content — including translations, transliterations, lesson material, and anything generated by Magi — is accurate, complete, current, or doctrinally correct.
The App does not provide medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice, and it does not provide authoritative religious ruling. Decisions about your health, your legal position, your finances, or your religious practice should be made with qualified people, not with an app.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the App, whether based on contract, tort, or any other theory, even if we were advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (US$50).
If you are a consumer, these limits apply only to the extent permitted by the consumer protection law of your country, and do not affect your statutory rights.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zoroastrian Light LLC and its officers, members, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your violation of any law or third-party right. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or UK, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country.
Everyone else: you and we agree that any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Essex County, New Jersey, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Informal resolution first. Before filing anything, please email zoroastrianlight@gmail.com with a description of the dispute. Most problems can be resolved this way, and we will try in good faith for 30 days.
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us regarding the App.
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. We will post the revised version with a new effective date, and for material changes we will notify you by email or in the App at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the App after that means you accept the change. If you do not accept it, stop using the App and cancel any subscription.
Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
